About the Project
Web platform for library management, featuring catalog control and book reservations.
In 2021, we developed an integrated library management platform for the Municipality of Vicente López, aimed at organizing an operation that was sustained with paper and spreadsheets. The main challenge was to manage a catalog of more than 100,000 books and to make the loan and return process traceable without relying on difficult-to-audit manual processes.
The solution was designed as a 100% responsive web platform, with a clear interface for staff and users. The system centralizes the catalog, records loans and returns, and allows for operations at scale with greater operational control.
In addition, we incorporated a key cultural improvement: the platform allows for the visibility of the catalog of local authors, something that the previous scheme did not resolve well and that was important for the municipality.
In terms of governance and security, we integrated Active Directory for role and permission management, aligning system access with the internal structure and reducing administrative friction. The result is a tool that organizes daily operations and enhances the consultation experience for the community.
Challenge
Manual processes (paper/Excel) to manage over 100,000 books, with low traceability in loans/returns and limitations in showcasing and promoting local authors.
Solution
Responsive web platform for library management (catalog, loans, returns) with integration to Active Directory for roles and permissions, designed to operate at the municipal scale and improve the consultation experience.
Results
Digitization and operational order with reduced dependency on paper/spreadsheets. Greater traceability of the loan and return circuit. More accessible catalog for the community and visible incorporation of local authors. Access management aligned with internal roles through Active Directory.
